In my essay I will mainly talk about the struggles faced in Haiti, that Danticat (the author) informs us of through
his writings in Krik? Krak!, and how the author uses those struggles to express the importance of family.
I will support this by using one example from each of the stories "Children of the Sea", "A Wall of Fire Rising.", and "Night Women".

What does it mean to struggle? In order to define it, you would of course have to consider the engender of this 'struggle'. In Danticats' novel, He just as briefly
describes these struggles as he does their mighty creator, which is none less then a corrupt and power-hungry government. But Hows does family get involved? How is their importance so widespread through out these series of stories, Could it be that there once was a teen-age girl who lived in these pages that only seemed to want to hold on to something real, a shred a hope that at least screamed 'I'm alive and I matter' , but only just as easily as that came it went as well. Her baby, a product of injustice, was born dead, Her name was Celianne and Children of the sea is where her story is lies. In this essay I will discuss these varies of struggles and how it was used to stress the importance of family.
In Children of the Sea, there was a woman, One who died just for loving her son, whom belonged to radio show that openly opposed the current mistreats of the police.
Day and night Madan Roger would worry about her son, is he alive? Is he dead? He supposedly was run over by a car, but nobody seemed to believe that. That last thought will rest with her for all she got back from these crooks was her sons severed head, A struggle to reclaim, a struggle for justice! That was all she wanted and was for, but these men didn't care and just threw her around, beating her with blows as delicate as a roses thorn. Family, was supposedly what we struggled for. To uphold our families honor? To fight for our families .Under these category's, the fact that " She had been carrying the head all over port-au-prince . Just to show what's been done to her son."(pg.7) should be at the top. She lived for her family and she died for them too, One of her last words being " You have already done the worst to me that you can do. You killed my soul."(pg.16)
If to give your own body means to feed your own, then I'm sure this shows the extant of another persons care,In the story 1937 there was a woman who almost each and every-night, shared her bed with another person.Why? because there aren't any other jobs available, because she wants to fill that empty hole that loneliness has built. But all through these passages we find exactly how much she cares for her son, and exactly all that she may do for him. He is all she has in the world and she wants him to see the best in life now. That later on, there may be be ugly skies in store, sort of how is for her now.They only have each other so why not dream, why talk about
snake and gold that lie at each ends of a rainbow. The point is, she would do anything for him. And like almost all woman in the past, she knows her son is all she really has. Ever since he came to her despite the conceive, he was her only family, And this story shows that solid truth.
